Digital Twin Victoria (DTV) is partnering with Ararat Rural City Council (ARCC) and Federation University to deliver a real-time weather monitoring network for Western Victoria that will support economic outcomes through the Ararat Digital Twin Spotlight project.
As part of recent field days, the DTV team met with local farmers, who got their first chance to interact with new farming sensor technology. Attendees also learned how they will be able to leverage the capabilities of the Digital Twin Victoria platform to enhance on-farm decision-making. Digital twin technology can assist everything from on-farm operation and maintenance decisions, to asset management and prioritisation of infrastructure repairs.
Through the project, participants will benefit from real-time weather monitoring and improved emergency response through early detection of natural disasters. Monitoring soil conditions and livestock and asset management tracking also has the potential to enhance decision-making.
The highly successful field days involved over 65 local farmers. The next steps include exploring the best technology options available to different types of farms to gain insights and improve agricultural sustainability.
The project is a collaboration between Ararat Rural City Council and Federation University Australia, and is part of the Victorian Government’s Digital Twin Victoria program. The program brings together new foundational data and cutting-edge technical capability, high-quality datasets and intelligent analytics to leverage a new era in digital twin technology.
The Digital Twin Victoria platform was launched to the public in August 2022. The platform is the most comprehensive digital model ever assembled for Victoria. It brings together masses of 2D, 3D and live data in a single online place open for everyone to use.
